Andy McDyer, Assistant Chief Constable

Andy has 27 years police service and is our Assistant Chief Constable.

Andy has extensive policing experience in uniform, crime, specialist operations and executive roles gained across Humberside Police, Northumbria Police, Cleveland Constabulary and the National Police Improvement Agency.

He also carried out the role of Police Commander for Domestic European Football and England International Football in Belgium, Estonia, France, Greece, Portugal, Russia and Ukraine.

He currently has Strategic responsibility for: Protecting vulnerable people and safeguarding; Criminal Investigations and victims; Specialist and Major Crime investigations; Intelligence; Counter Terrorism and Extremism; and Specialist Operations across Humberside Police and South Yorkshire Police.

Andy also has responsibility across the North East England Region for public order and public safety.

He holds a BA (Hons) degree in Public Services Management and an MA in Criminology. He is also Director of a School Trust in Newcastle upon Tyne.

Andy is married with two sons. His hobbies include Mountain Biking and Archery.
